First Day of Preschool and Leah Pictures

Grant started his first day of preschool on Monday.  We visited a few times before the big day and talked it up and watched the Wonder Pets episode where the fish goes to preschool for the first time.  He was so excited to go.  And he did really well on the first day.  He didn't cry when we left and when I called to check on him the teachers said he was quiet but participating and talking to them when they asked him questions. The rest of the week he's cried when I've dropped him off.  He only cries for a few minutes and then he's ok.  He's still quiet, but starting to talk more with the kids.  He doesn't tell us much about his day.  I know he doesn't like the tire swing and he likes the slide.  I think that's about all I've gotten out of him.  When Troy picked him up yesterday he was pulling two girls in the wagon.  He definitely likes the playground.

Leah had her first day at daycare on Monday too.  She drank her bottles just fine, but she wasn't a very good napper.  She took lots of short little naps.  That night she was a tired girl and ended up sleeping through the night!  She didn't wake me up until almost 6 am.  It was wonderful, though Grant got up 5 minutes after Leah did, which makes for a long morning.  When Grant got up I was feeding Leah in her room so he came in.  He was using a sweet voice and saying "I love you Leah, I love you.  I love her Mommy!" And here are a few pictures of my cute girl.

New Jammies

Pajama Time

We broke out the warm footie pajamas this week and Grant loves them. He's told me several times "I like these socks Mommy!" and doesn't want to get dressed in the morning. That's why at 3:30 pm when these pictures were taken, Grant is still in his pajamas. I love how Leah is watching Grant in these pictures, and the pouty face she has in the middle one.

2 Months Old

Leah is 2 months old!  She had her check up this week and is 10 lb 14 oz (55th percentile) and 23 1/4 in (80th percentile).  Leah is really kicking and cooing and smiling.  She loves to lay in her crib and watch her mobile.  She also likes to lay on her play mat and look at the little toys hanging.  She's also started grabbing things, but hasn't figured out how to let go yet.  She's lost some hair, but not like her brother did.  And her lashes are starting to get long and dark. Grant had to get in on the action too, so here they both are on Leah's quilt.

He Keeps Us Entertained

Grant recently finished swimming lessons.  They were the highlight of his week.  He was always talking about going to swimming lessons.  He did really well and made improvements throughout the session, though he still doesn't want to jump off the ledge.  Hopefully we can figure out a time that works once I go back to work so he can go again.

The other day Grant played in his underwear for over an hour because he didn't want to get dressed.  When he asked me to put his goggles on so he could work, I happily did so and grabbed the camera.  These pictures are keepers!

Grant has been in to trains this week and discovered that the laundry baskets and the baby tub lined up make a great train.  He gathers everything he can find and loads them in to the baskets.  Daddy and Leah joined in the fun Saturday morning.  Daddy pushed and they went for a ride!

While Daddy was working in the garage, Grant was out playing.  He found this bike trailer flag and planted it out front.  He was so proud to show Daddy that he did it all by himself and they had to show Mommy too.

We went to a wedding a few weekends ago and before we left I put Grant in his jammies because I was sure he'd fall asleep in the car on the way home.  Before we could get out the door, Uncle Adam had to show Grant how to do the chicken dance.  Grant looks pretty stylish here!

Grant has been saying some funny things lately. 

-He's in to dinosaurs and often calls them "dinosaurus" as in "dinosaurus rex."  

-We often call Leah baby girl or little girl and Grant always says baby grill and little grill.  

-He also says "Hey Mommy/Daddy, guess what?  I saw a ______ at the zoo."  Most of the time he says elephant or baby elephant.  About 20 times a day.  At least.  Really.  And every time he'd start out with "Guess what?"  I thought he was going to actually tell me something.  He did start to get creative with it.  He told us he saw a truck, a fire, and the best one.... a dinosaur!  When Daddy asked him more about the dinosaur at the zoo, Grant told him that it "lifted up the stove." Hmmm...  I think he finally caught on that we thought it was funny he was telling us this all the time because he started to smile as he said guess what, and the frequency has tapered off.

-He randomly tells us "that makes me happy."

-Troy has done some projects around the house- installed a storm door, tiled the kitchen backsplash, put insulation in the garage.  Grant likes to tell him how beautiful they look and what a good job he did.  One day we pulled into the garage after going somewhere and Grant enthusiastically said, "Good job driving Daddy!"
-After trick or treating at a few houses Grant helped pass out candy.  He asked one kid "Do you want some more candy?"
-A few weeks ago Grant was up playing past his bedtime.  When I told him it was time to go to bed he took my hand and real sweetly said, "Do you want to go watch the Buckeyes Mommy?"  Sorry buddy, the Buckeyes aren't on and you need to go to bed! 

6 Week Fussies

Leah has a case of the 6-week-old fussies. Our perfectly content happy baby has been replaced with a baby who cries a lot and is fussy a lot.I even took her to the doctor because I thought she might have an ear infection.  But she's fine.   It's made us realize how spoiled we've been so far. Hopefully this phase doesn't last too long. At least she's cute!

Fall Fun

Friday night we took the kids to their first high school football game.  We went with a friend and her two little boys and walked from our house.  Grant was pretty in to it.  He watched intently and yelled "Go! Go! Go!"  and "Go football players!"  He also yelled a few things the people around us did, luckily all appropriate.  And he told us we were watching the Buckeyes.  We didn't get to stay very long, but we will definitely have to take him to some games next year (earlier in the season when it's warmer).

On Saturday we went to Young's Dairy in Yellow Springs.  Last year Grant loved it.  This year he was scared.  He was scared of the tractors, scared of the animals, scared of the little ride...  We did take a short wagon ride, which he liked.  This week he's been playing with his little tractor giving wagon rides and talking about how the guy wore a hat.  For some reason that really stuck with him (and it was just a baseball cap).  After that we made a quick trip to UD, which we told him was Mommy's school.  We walked around some, but Grant wanted to keep walking around.  We had to convince him to walk back to the car.  He knows a good place when he sees it!
