Catching Up

Troy took Grant to get his xrays last week. Grant screamed when they held him down, but otherwise he did ok. The xrays came back normal and we go to our first physical therapy visit next week. We've noticed that he's been holding his head a lot straighter lately, so maybe his neck muscles are loosening up and he won't need much therapy.

Grant laughed for the first time the other day. Troy started shaking his head and making funny noises and Grant laughed every time. So cute!

We had lots of visitors this weekend. Grandma R came to help watch Grant on Saturday while I was at work so Troy could get some things around the house done. Then Grandpa R, Uncle Jared and Jill came on Sunday and we grilled out. Lisa was in town too so she stopped over a while. Grant wasn't quite sure what to make of everyone and that combined with a not quite long enough nap made for a little bit of a cranky baby.

I'm getting really tired of Grant waking up so often at night (he's stirring right now which is what reminded me). Sleep baby sleep! We're going out of town for a wedding 4th of July weekend and leaving Grant at home with my mom. All I can think about is 2 nights of (hopefully uninterrupted) sleep!

Torticollis

Last week when I dropped Grant off at the sitter's, she asked me if Grant always held his head "like that." I had no idea what she was talking about but when I picked him up later and Troy came home we started watching him, and he almost always holds his head to one side. If you look back through the pictures you'll see it. We went from not seeing it to not being able to not see it. We were paranoid about it and I started doing some research and found a condition called torticollis, where the neck muscles are smaller or tighter on one side, causing the head to tilt. We decided to take him to the doctor, and he told us Grant has torticollis. We have to take him for physical therapy and before that a spine xray. I'm going to take him for the xray next week (I hope they have some magic way of getting him to hold still!) and once we have that we can schedule the therapy. I was also worried about Grant's weight gain. He's in the 25th percentile but the dr said he's fine. Also fine are his big toenails (which we thought looked weird) and his pooping (or lack thereof) schedule. We made the most out of the visit!

So Sleepy

This is what I came home to after my first full day of work. Troy had been walking around with Grant trying to keep him from crying when he realized he was OUT. What a sleepy boy!

3 Months Old

Grant is 3 months old today. We can't believe it! He's grown 6 inches and gained 5 pounds since that first picture and changed so much.

6 Days vs. 3 Months

For Mother's Day my wonderful boys got me (more) flowers, ice cream, a romantic lunch at Qdoba, a Penzone gift certificate and now Troy is cooking dinner for me. I'm a very lucky mommy!

Random stuff:

Troy let Grant watch some tv the other day and swears Grant smiled at Andrea Cambern. Daddy can't blame him.

Grant was fussy so I took him to the mirror so he could see his reflection. He must have liked what he saw because he quit fussing and smiled at the baby in the mirror for a while.

Grant is doing really well taking naps at the sitters.

Tomorrow is my first full day back at work and will be the longest I've ever been away from Grant. :(

Back to work

I went back to work yesterday. I have no idea where the past 12 weeks have gone. I think I should get 12 more off at least. The first bunch of weeks are such a blur of sleepless stupor and trying to figure each other out. Now we're having more fun and I have to go back to work. I had a really hard time Sunday night. I didn't go into work until 2 Monday so I had all morning to think about leaving him. He didn't cry while I was at the sitter's with him and he actually smiled at me when they walked me to the door. I cried half way to work, then everyone at work was so nice and there were sunflowers on my desk so I cried again. I talked to the sitter once and she said he was doing fine and Troy picked him up a couple hours later. When I got home there were flowers from my boys. Today was a little easier, even though I had to get up super early to get us ready and out the door. I think the rest of the week will be ok, but next week when I'm full time again will be rough. Maybe I'll start playing the lottery...

GO ADAM!

Uncle Adam is running the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon this weekend. It is his first marathon. Grant thought he would show his support by trying out his running attire. The "Go Pre" shirt was a Christmas gift from Adam.

Moving Around

A few weeks ago we started finding Grant on his side when he was in the crib or pack-n-play. Yesterday Troy and I were talking about how we hadn't seen him on his side in a long time. Grant must have heard us because the three times I got up with him last night he was on his side. Troy got up with him this morning and said he saw Grant go from his side to his stomach. Not quite rolling over but getting close! Grant also discovered his left hand this week. It's funny to watch him stare at it. Maybe soon he'll learn he has a right hand too. Little lefty.

We seem to be making someprogress with naps. He's starting to take naps at about the same time for about the same length of time at each one. Unfortunately he hasn't fit all the naps in on the same day, which means he cries in the morning if he won't take a morning nap or cries in the afternoon if he won't take an afternoon nap. But we're getting there.
