Today Grant and I had to take Miles to the vet. Poor Miles is sick. But that does not mean Miles is going to be a calm patient. He is kind of known for growling, hissing, swatting, and attempted biting at visits. It's highlighted all over his chart. Today was no exception. When Miles started in on his show, Grant was very unsure. Kitty does not normally make those horrible noises. I had to hold Grant and he CLUNG to me, crying/whining a little bit. And when Miles did an especially vicious act of growling/hissing/swatting that resulted in his twisting and hurtling out of the arms of the vet and onto the floor, Grant burst out in hysterical crying. Tears streaming down his face. I think he thought they were hurting Miles. The only things that saved the visit for Grant were the dogs. The back door of the exam room is just a half door that looks out into the back part of the office, and the vet had brought in her 3 dogs that day so they were in the hall. Grant loved them. And he wanted to see all three of them at the same time. If one went where he couldn't see it, even though the other two were right there, he had to strain to see where the third one was. He really liked the big black dog. The techs told him it was a big Miles. That doggy was big enough to stand up and lick Grant's fingers. Grant leaned over the door and "kissed" that dog on the head. The staff was so nice; one of the ladies said she would take Grant and the dogs in the next room so he could get down and pet them. Grant loved to watch their tails wag and he petted them a little bit. I think he said doggie about 100 times. Even when we got home he was calling Miles doggie. I sure hope Miles will let us give him the medicine so we don't have to go back...
