Same Old Same Old

Nothing new around here. It's been too hot to play much outside. You know it's hot because the kids were at the library three times last week.  That's a record. Leah still does not have any more teeth. But she seems to have more hair. Grant looks a lot taller all of a sudden. And he told us his first knock knock joke today.
G: Knock Knock
M: Who's there?
G: Bana head
M: Bana head who?
G: Bana head head! (insert hilarious laughter)

And yes, he still calls a banana a bana.

Grant wants to play hide and seek with Leah all the time.  He hides under a pillow or blanket, usually with most of his body showing, wiggles around and squeals with excitement, and then Leah will crawl on him, which he thinks is the funniest thing ever.
Grant does this funny thing sometimes where he talks in a really low voice.  Our neighbor has been away most of the summer and was trying to talk to him when she got back and he would only talk to her in the low voice.  And one day he was talking to Troy on the phone and told him some story, all in the low voice.  I can't figure out why he does it or what he's thinking/trying to be.  But it's pretty funny.

Oh, and Leah found some cat puke behind the couch tonight and ate it. Yum!

Leah likes to walk with her toy

I just thought Leah looked really sweet in these pictures.

Messy!

Grant wanted to pose with his trucks

It was too hot to go outside so we broke out the bubbles

If you look closely at the animals you can see they are all on their sides.  They are sleeping so Grant had to join them. (But don't be fooled- he's not really sleeping)

10 Months

Happy 10 month birthday Leah!

Leah is clapping, waving, cruising and getting in to everything.   She is starting to throw a fit when offered baby food and smiles with delight at little pieces of solid food.  She doesn't seem to realize she only has 2 teeth and her food options are limited!  She also is in love with her sippy cup.  If she sees it up on the counter she crawls to it, crying and whining the entire time, and then has a fit until she gets it.  Seriously, the girl loves her cup.  She also likes to be outside.  As soon as she realizes that's where we're headed she kicks and laughs.

Fun in the Sun

We broke out the kiddie pool yesterday.  This is Grant's idea of sitting in the pool.  Really.  He insisted we get his little chair so he could sit in the pool.

Leah loved the slip-n-slide.  As soon as Troy turned on the sprinklers she climbed out of the pool and crawled across the grass so she could get to it.

While Leah loves it, Grant likes it- as long as his face doesn't get wet. Usually he wants to be on it when the sprinklers are off. Notice how he has his eyes closed.

Big Machines

We went to COSI to see the Big Machines exhibit. We thought Grant would love getting to see all the equipment up close. And he did. After a while. He was kind of terrified at first and didn't want to get close to anything. And he never really did warm up to the ones you could operate. But he didn't want to leave and kept asking to see more even after we had looked at them all.

Leah also enjoyed the big machines.

Everyone's looking at the camera!
Serious Grant.

Grant was pretty scared of this.  When he got done the two guys were laughing and called him a serious operator.

He's finally starting to get into it.

Making sound effects and everything for this one.

Smiley Leah.  Everyone at daycare comments about how she's always smiling.

9 Months

Happy 9 Months Leah! Leah is really starting to show more of her personality. When she wants down (which is all the time) she lets you know it! She's really enjoying trying finger foods and gets mad if you only give her baby food. She really has been laughing a lot too. She has discovered how fun the little panda rocker is and her favorite book right now is The Baby Goes Beep.

Leah took her first dip in the baby pool and she loved it. She laughed and splashed and put her face in the water over and over.

We Have Porcupines

Not really, but that's what Grant told me yesterday when I went outside to see how Grant and Daddy were doing tackling the weeds out back.  "Daddy sprayed the porcupine so it will go away!" We do however, have poison ivy.  Poison ivy, porcupines- almost the same thing.

Grant is always interested in watching the kids play baseball behind our house.  They are the baseball teamers.  Or sometimes he calls them the football teamers.  And yesterday he wanted to wear his baseball teamer shirt.  And I have no idea what shirt he is talking about.

Grant still calls Leah a grill instead of a girl.  I hope he doesn't outgrow it anytime soon, it's so funny.  He says in a sweet little voice, "Leah is a nice grill."  Or "She's a silly grill."  Or "She's a cute little grill."  Cracks me up.
