That Scared My Ears!

That is what Grant has started saying when there's a loud noise. :)

Today Grant Said...

Today Grant said two really funny things I don't want to forget.

He came in to our room early this morning and I was pretty much awake so I thought I'd get up with him. He came to my side of the bed and said, "No Mommy, lay down and rest on your pillow!" So I did and Daddy had to get up with him.

He wanted to pet Miles so I had to hold the cat. As he was petting him he first said "He's cute!" Then he said "He's so precious!" Um, what? Where did he pick that up from? I just started laughing, I couldn't help it.

I guess he also told Troy randomly this morning that he liked his baby sister.

We've been car shopping a lot lately and Grant seems to like it for some reason. This morning he said he wanted to go look at cars. Troy took him to the garage and showed him that we got a new car. Grant looked at it and said, "I don't like it." Guess we forgot to ask his opinion yesterday!

Potty Training

We've been potty training for almost 2 weeks now. The sitter has declared him trained and sent home all the diapers. We're not quite ready to make that statement at our house. He's doing really well for the most part. He tells us when he has to go and doesn't have too many accidents. He's only gone #2 on the potty one time, the rest of the time it's ended up in his pants. And while he stays dry at nap for the sitter, that's not happening here. He has come a long way though. He started out not wanting to wear big boy pants (underwear), but just the other morning the first thing he said to me was that he wanted to wear big boy pants. One day early on in the training he had a big accident in the kitchen (more like a small flood), and he says to me in a sad voice "I don't want to wear big boy pants mommy." He started out on the little potty chair and within a few days only wanted to sit on the real toilet. He's still scared of public restrooms and often won't even go inside, but yesterday at a car dealership he went for the first time. We only had to go into the bathroom 5 times before he was comfortable enough to go. I'm not really sure how to make him not be scared, so right now when we know we're going to be out for a while we put a pull up on him just in case. But we are very proud of our big boy!

What We've Been Up To

A few weekends ago we went to a Clippers baseball game. It was hot. Our seats were in the sun. We didn't spend much time there. Most of our time was spent at the ball/bat/glove sculpture and following the dog character. We saw him many times. The picture below is how close Grant would get to him at the beginning. By the time we were ready to leave Grant was giving the dog fives.

We went to the zoo yesterday. It was really hot, even though we got there when it opened. The zoo on a hot day when you're 9 months pregnant is not the best idea. Just saying.

As we were walking to the tiger a zoo worker told us the tiger was in his pool, but by the time we got there he was out. Grant loved the tiger walking right by him and was all smiles each time it passed.

Other than the baseball game and the zoo we haven't been doing much. Uncle Adam came to visit one day, G and PawPaw came another. G painted a little table and chairs for the playroom and told Grant someday his baby sister could sit in one of the chairs too. So now every time he sits at the table he tells me baby sister is going to sit there too. We've been car shopping and unpacking and trying to get Baby Girl's room ready. I'll try to post some pictures of the nursery soon.

Grant is 2 1/2!

The quilt picture. He looks so big!

Gotta have the blankie.

Grant is still into the "nap" game, so of course he had to go get his pillow. He kept wanting me to take his picture too.

Cutest Ring Bearer Ever

Uncle Jared and Aunt Jill got married over the weekend and Grant was the ring bearer in the wedding. I didn't think he'd make it down the aisle, but he surprised me and did it, even though it took about 15 minutes as he took baby robot steps all the way down. When he finally made it to me he said, "Mommy what's that noise?" We hadn't practiced or talked about the loud organ music and he was a little confused.

Watching a show with Uncle Jared, Daddy, and Uncle Adam before the wedding.

Time to get the special outfit on!

Checking out the cool new shoes. Grant stomped his foot on the step and sang Wheels on the Bus for everyone.

Grant thought this was his special seat.

Enjoying cocktail hour with Mommy.

One of the many family photos.

Aunt Rachel and G were Grant's official babysitters.

Cute boys

Notice how happy Grant looks.

Teaching Daddy some dance moves.

End of the night for Grant.

Other funny things: The hotel had an elevator with a big glass wall so you could look out at the fountains and rest of hotel. Grant kept calling the elevator "alligator" and had to hold on to the rail with both hands for the ride.
The Wonder Pets is Grant's favorite show and he has a stuffed Ming Ming that was in the car. Ming Ming's big line in the show is "This is serious." Uncle Adam had Grant going around saying that to people at various points in the weekend. It was pretty funny.
It was a beautiful wedding Jared and Jill! We were happy to be a part of it!
