Pictures and Stories

Poor Leah has yet another bad cold.  She's so congested.  Both kids went to the doctor yesterday because I thought they had ear infections.  Turns out neither one of them did.  But Leah has RSV so it's probably going to be a while before she sounds any better.  But see how cute she is?!  At least she doesn't act as miserable as she sounds.

I love this expression.

She is doing really well sitting up.  She can sit for a long time with out falling over and scoots herself to whatever she wants, mostly Grant's toys, shoes, and the package of wipes.  She's also started to mimic sounds.  When I was changing her diaper this morning she kicked a lot so I started saying "kick kick kick."  I swear she was trying to say it too.  And just in case you think I've forgotten Grant...

I try to take pictures of Grant. This is Grant looking at the camera and smiling. And this is why there is only 1 picture of Grant today.

Two weekends ago I was washing up a few dishes and thought the water didn't feel very hot, but I just thought I didn't let it run long enough before I filled up the sink.  A little bit later Troy took a shower and exclaimed how cold it was.  After he got out he went to the basement to check the water heater... and it had been turned almost all the way down.  Wonder who did that?

Yesterday Grant went with me to get Leah up from her nap.  He went in and said "Hi Mrs. Leah!"

One morning Troy was trying to get Grant into some dry clothes but he wasn't cooperating.  When Troy said "Come on Grant!" Grant said, "I'm not Grant, I'm Buzz Lightyear!"

Buzz Lightyear is his latest thing.  He "flies" around the house and pushes pretend buttons on his arm.  The other day I pulled out a collection of simple Disney short stories and now we read the Buzz Lightyear one several times a day.

Daddy and Grant were watching basketball this weekend when he saw some cheerleaders.  He asked what they were and Daddy told him cheerleaders.  Grant asked what they were for, and Daddy smirked and said, "I'm not answering that."

Day with Mommy, Day with Daddy

Grant went to preschool with this morning and then I picked him up and took him to lunch, just the two of us.  He behaved really well and ate 4(!) pancakes and a piece of bacon.  We were going to go the grocery store after that but it was pouring so we just went home.  Grant was so disappointed, he really wanted to go to the grocery store.  Oh how I wish he was old enough to go for me!  Before we picked up Leah later in the afternoon we ran an errand that had us go by preschool.  When we drove past it and didn't get Leah, Grant CRIED because he was so upset we didn't get her.  It's nice to know he missed her.  Tomorrow Daddy and Grant are going to swim lessons.  It's the next class up from the last one so it'll be interesting to see how he does.  Mommy's friend is going to watch Leah since she has to work.  Thanks Ann!

6 Months

Happy Half Birthday Leah! It's hard to believe she is 6 months old already. She is really changing a lot lately. She's doing the army crawl and getting in to things. She has discovered the fire place screen, always wants brother's toys and is fascinated with Miles. She can sit up on her own and just today got up on her hands and knees. She's eating cereal and fruits and veggies and teething like crazy. Everything goes in to her mouth and she drips drool. Her teachers took a picture of her  holding hands with a boy the other day.  Don't worry, Troy talked to the boy's mom about it. :)

So proud to be sitting up!

Before I had the camera out Leah had a car in each hand and was driving them around. Of course she stopped once I grabbed the camera.

Party Time!

This is actually Grant opening presents on his birthday. He got the hat at preschool and liked wearing it around. And yes, we actually bought him some drums. Surprisingly they aren't too obnoxious.

Here's the birthday party. My parents got him one of those recordable books and read the story to him. At the beginning they say they are going to read him a story for his birthday and every time he hears it he gets a big grin on his face.

Dump truck birthday cake decorated by mommy.

Grant looks thrilled to be having his picture taken.

This isn't from his birthday but I didn't want to forget to put it in. I was at work and Grant was supposed to be having rest time. Daddy went upstairs for something and found Grant fast asleep at the top of the stairs. It looks like he fell asleep mid cry. The funny thing is I think I found him asleep at the top of the stairs last night too. Hopefully he doesn't do this and roll down the stairs one of these times.

3 Years Old!

Happy 3rd Birthday Grant!

Today we had a special Grant-Mommy-Daddy day. After he opened his presents (the Buzz Lightyear drums were a hit) Leah went to daycare and the rest of us went to the community center to go swimming. Grant was excited to have both of us swim with him and it was a lot of fun spending time with just him. After that we went out for lunch and braved the zoo. It was way colder than we expected so we pretty much walked as fast as we could from building to building. It felt like we had the zoo to ourselves. We hardly saw anyone else and for a while had the elephants and the aquarium completely to ourselves.

At his 3 year check up Grant weighed 33 pounds (65 percentile) andwais 39.5 inches (90th percentile) tall.  He did such a great job and didn't even cry when he got his shot.  Here's last year's quilt picture for comparison.

5 Months

Leah is 5 months old!  She's rolling over from back to front only, can sit on her own for a little while, and has started this new screeching noise.  She loves to watch her brother run around and be crazy and is fascinated when we play board games with him.  She's been getting pretty mad when toys are out of reach so it wouldn't surprise me if she figured out how to army crawl pretty soon so she can get what she wants.  Everything she touches goes in her mouth. She isn't napping well at all at daycare, but she does ok (sometimes) at home.  Here she's wearing an outfit I bought before she was born and I absolutely love it.  Please notice the coordinating socks and shoes. :)
