What We've Been Up To

A few weekends ago we went to a Clippers baseball game. It was hot. Our seats were in the sun. We didn't spend much time there. Most of our time was spent at the ball/bat/glove sculpture and following the dog character. We saw him many times. The picture below is how close Grant would get to him at the beginning. By the time we were ready to leave Grant was giving the dog fives.

We went to the zoo yesterday. It was really hot, even though we got there when it opened. The zoo on a hot day when you're 9 months pregnant is not the best idea. Just saying.

As we were walking to the tiger a zoo worker told us the tiger was in his pool, but by the time we got there he was out. Grant loved the tiger walking right by him and was all smiles each time it passed.

Other than the baseball game and the zoo we haven't been doing much. Uncle Adam came to visit one day, G and PawPaw came another. G painted a little table and chairs for the playroom and told Grant someday his baby sister could sit in one of the chairs too. So now every time he sits at the table he tells me baby sister is going to sit there too. We've been car shopping and unpacking and trying to get Baby Girl's room ready. I'll try to post some pictures of the nursery soon.

Grant is 2 1/2!

The quilt picture. He looks so big!

Gotta have the blankie.

Grant is still into the "nap" game, so of course he had to go get his pillow. He kept wanting me to take his picture too.

Cutest Ring Bearer Ever

Uncle Jared and Aunt Jill got married over the weekend and Grant was the ring bearer in the wedding. I didn't think he'd make it down the aisle, but he surprised me and did it, even though it took about 15 minutes as he took baby robot steps all the way down. When he finally made it to me he said, "Mommy what's that noise?" We hadn't practiced or talked about the loud organ music and he was a little confused.

Watching a show with Uncle Jared, Daddy, and Uncle Adam before the wedding.

Time to get the special outfit on!

Checking out the cool new shoes. Grant stomped his foot on the step and sang Wheels on the Bus for everyone.

Grant thought this was his special seat.

Enjoying cocktail hour with Mommy.

One of the many family photos.

Aunt Jill and Uncle Jared bring out the tickle bug!

Aunt Rachel and G were Grant's official babysitters.

Cute boys

Notice how happy Grant looks.

Teaching Daddy some dance moves.

End of the night for Grant.

Other funny things: The hotel had an elevator with a big glass wall so you could look out at the fountains and rest of hotel. Grant kept calling the elevator "alligator" and had to hold on to the rail with both hands for the ride.
The Wonder Pets is Grant's favorite show and he has a stuffed Ming Ming that was in the car. Ming Ming's big line in the show is "This is serious." Uncle Adam had Grant going around saying that to people at various points in the weekend. It was pretty funny.
It was a beautiful wedding Jared and Jill! We were happy to be a part of it!

2 Month Update

So I haven't posted in a long time. Moving and being pregnant pretty much put an end to that. But here's what Grant's been up to in the past 2 months.

Cain and Aunt Rachel came to stay while our sitter was on vacation. The boys played outside a lot and Rachel did a lot of packing and cleaning to help us get ready to move. Rachel brought a slip-n-slide that sprays water up onto the slide. Grant was very unsure of it at first and didn't want to get in the spray, but once we turned the water off he got braver and had fun scooting down on his tummy.

Here is the start of Grant's new blankie obsession. He has to be covered up at nap and bedtime, no matter how hot it is. The boys are probably watching "Truck Tunes," which highlights different construction vehicles with cheesy songs that quickly get stuck in your head. They watched it about a hundred times.

While G was here we all went strawberry picking. There were hardly any berries left, but we managed to find a few.

These shorts were a gift and we think they are hilarious. They're really long and droopy. This picture doesn't do them justice.

Uncle Adam moved back to Ohio for the summer and came to visit us. We hadn't seen him since Christmas. When I got the camera out to take this picture Grant got so mad at me. Didn't want his picture taken just like Daddy.

And we moved! Here Grant and Daddy work to put together a new stool for our island. Grant transitioned really well to the new house. Many times he has randomly told us "I like the new house." We also switched to a big boy bed. It took him a while to fall asleep the first few nights, and maybe twice he woke up in the night crying. We put a night light in his room, which helped until we got the valance up. Then the valance created a shadow on the wall and Grant was scared. We now have new night light that's not as bright and points down.

Grant also got his first non-Grandma haircut. We went to a kids place down the street. He didn't want to sit in his special airplane chair, but Elmo on the tv and a sucker helped with that issue. He was really good and even let her use the clippers.

Grant has started expressing an interest in using the potty again. Here he is checking out his new big boy underpants. I had to help him put every pair on- all at the same time and with his jammies still on. Every night he is using the potty before his bath and going quite a bit, not just a few little dribbles. Twice now he has been on the potty and excitedly told us "It's coming!" right before he goes. So funny. And the other morning he told me he had to potty and then actually did. We may be trying out these big boy underpants soon.

The Adventures of Butterfly Boy

Grant and Daddy made these butterfly wings at Miss Meredith's storytime. Grant was very proud of them and has talked a lot about storytime since then. Actually, the last time he was at the library it was to pick me up when it closed. He cried because he wanted to go to storytime.

Grilling out with Daddy.

Grant is obsessed with being outside and playing in the swimming pool. What he really wants to do is play with the hose. He could spray the hose for HOURS.

Everything is a drum these days...

We went to the zoo today to check out the new polar bear exhibit. The nice thing about the new exhibit is the rest of them aren't as busy! Grant especially liked the elephants, lorikeets, and gibbons.
