Bits and Pieces

• Grant started saying kitty this week. He doesn't say it all the time, but he does say it sometimes when he sees Miles. He's also been practicing the hard K sound- over and over- kuh, kuh, kuh...
• This morning Miles came to investigate what we were having for breakfast. Grant took one of his cheerios and held it out to Miles, all the while making his num num num sound. I thought it was hilarious he was telling the cat the cheerios were yummy.
• Right after that Grant signed he wanted more cheerios. When I showed him he still had cheerios, he shoved them into his mouth as fast as he could (as fast as he could one at a time) and once they were all in his mouth he signed more.
• He put 2 signs together this week. I told him to sign "more please" and he did both of them. Before now he would only do one or the other.
  
• Last weekend Grant was a mess: giant spider bites on both legs, mosquito bite on his face, 2 faceplants into the sidewalk resulting in a very scabbed up nose, and a cut on his heel. We're hoping for fewer visible injuries this weekend.
• Last weekend Grant and Daddy came to Mommy's superhero storytime. Grant has never watched me do a storytime, and he was a little young for this one so it was kind of interesting to see how he reacted. I saw Troy had to take him out at one point, but he seemed to enoy the songs. Troy brought Grant up last to get his stamp, and a mom nearby asked if Grant was mine. When I said he was she said she thought so. She had been watching him during the storytime and the whole time he kept reaching for me.
• Today I took Grant to his third music and movement class (We Joy Sing). We only signed up for 4 classes so next week is it. The librarian part of me if fascinated with how this is run. Pretty interesting. Grant likes it. He caught on to the songs quickly and loves to play the instruments- bells, sticks, drum, and plastic plates. Today the teacher brought the scarves out. You know- brightly colored see through little scarves. I think Grant was scared of them. When the teacher tried to give him his, he shook his head no and walked away. He came to me and climbed on my lap, clinging to me. I tried to get him to take one later in the song, but he would have nothing to do with it. It was kind of strange.
• Grant colored Daddy a picture for Father's Day. It was the first time I got the crayons out for him, and he really enjoyed it. He colored for quite a while.
  

Turkey is a Kitty's Best Friend

The other day I gave Grant some turkey at lunch. He finally figured out that Miles loves turkey. Grant would take a little piece and dangle it over the side of his high chair. Miles would stand on his back legs and bat at Grant's arm. Grant would laugh hysterically and then eat the turkey. Repeat. Grant was so excited that Miles was actually coming up to him and getting close. Grant has also started chasing Miles around the house while laughing. Miles could run upstairs or hide under the dining room table, but he doesn't. He just lets Grant chase him with a slightly scared look on his face. We'll see how long that game lasts.

What Have I Been Doing?

I went to see Uncle Adam!

I saw the baby elephant (the real thing too, not just this sculpture). And I rode the train!

I saw the goats (I wasn't very excited about petting them this time).

I hung out in my room.

I am 16 months old now! And I don't want to be still on this blanket for any more pictures!

The Perfect Nest

Today Grant pulled the blankets off the back of the rocker and made himself a little reading nest! I was in another room and when I realized it was too quiet. I went in to take a look and found this cute little boy in a diaper and tshirt reading. My children's librarian heart just melted. He even went back to the spot a few times. At one point he was having trouble getting a book open so he brought it to me. When I gave it back to him opened he trotted back to his spot and got comfy again.

Mr. Pee Pants

Grant's diaper leaked twice this week, and we haven't given the sitter any extra summer clothes yet, so Grant came home in these stylish outfits.

Mrs. Doolittle

Mommy's friend Andrea got married this weekend! The weather was beautiful for the outdoor wedding and reception.


Grant had lots of fun running up and down the hill at Fort Meigs.

It took him a little while to warm up, but he eventually swung his hips on the dance floor. The groom's sister even commented how impressed she was that he had rhythm and was moving to the beat of the music.


Cake is yummy!

This was the best family picture we could manage. Grant could not be parted from the spoon.
